kei says: "i can't remember the exact time when i met rhett - it was a while ago, i know that much and it was in new york. i was living here, in la, but my family live in new york so i was gearing up to make my bi-monthly visit to my old city when one of my friends sent me a link. this link happened to be the official website of one of my favourite new york galleries - she had linked the events page and the one that caught my eyes was a show by some rhett hamilton. i hadn't heard the name before but i goggled him, some myspace came up or something - i can't recall exactly. i didn't find out much about him so i decided to take a look at the show myself, i left for new york and the first thing i mentioned to my mother was this art show. 'rhett hamiltion, he's supposed to be very good' i told her, she's a total socialite and rubbing shoulders with the talent has always been a favourite pastime of hers so she agreed to come along with me. can i just say right now that this boy has some amazing talent, i know i'm good but he just blows me right out the water. i don't know when mother slipped away, or how she managed to find rhett of all people, or how she even convinced him to meet me. i was too absorbed in what i was looking at, i think i was quite surprised when my mother tapped my shoulder and turned, face to face the creator of such lovely creations. i told him so and he thanked me, it was idle gallery banter but we connected all the same. it was a nice chat, we spent the majority of the evening talking about art.

i told him i intended to use my ability to design clothes, that was back when i actually wanted to be a designer and in turn he told me of his aspirations. i think we swapped contact details, e-mail or something, i told him to e-mail me if he was ever planning on doing a show in la or even if he was doing another in new york because i would, without a doubt fly back for it. then we parted and that's how we met. we kept in contact, more frequent than i originally intended but somewhere along the way we formed a friendship - i started visiting him as well whenever i visited my parents. and now he's living here, in la; sadly he doesn't go to the same college as me - that would be amazing if he did. our friendship has only grown stronger, he's one of the very few people i still know from new york and having him neared to me is wonderful. i suppose i kind of have a crush on him these days, which is silly but inevitable. he's just such a lovely person."
