LIKE THE KISS OF DEATH, LIKE THE HAND OF FAITH

-----Elvis was confused to if he was supposed to be enjoying his life right now or not. He was getting a divorce from the woman that he had been married to for two years now and supposedly in love with since high school and his daughter wasn’t living with him anymore either, so was it wrong that he wasn’t overly depressed about that? Really, Elvis shouldn’t have been anyways since he was the reason his life was this way now. He was the one who had decided to have a long talk with Svetlana that one night around maybe a month ago, telling her that he didn’t think he could be with her right now and that maybe it was best if they just spent some time apart from one another. It was a pretty random and shocking thing of him to do seeing as that the married couple seemed perfectly fine just a few days before, but something just felt … off, I guess you could say. Svetlana had done nothing wrong to mess up their relationship, he had heard that the problem might have been that she wasn't putting out for him or something ridiculous like that, and Elvis had no problem admitting that was most definitely not the issue. If anything, he was the problem.
-----He had never been in a lengthy or faithful relationship in his entire life, all the ones in high school maybe lasting a week or two, and sadly that’s not exaggerating it. There was one girl, Olivia, that he dated in senior year for almost a year and it was kind of surprising at how he was able to be with her for that long, but that was also when Svetlana came back into his life. Long story short, they ended up as wasted as they had ever been in Vegas and got married, and like the young fools they were, didn’t annul it. Elvis had always had a soft spot in his heart though for her and he already knew she felt the same way for him since she had told him twice now that she loved him; he had always just been too much of a stubborn jackass to really accept it. It had to be a proven fact by now though that Elvis Callaway could not be in a relationship without screwing it up somehow at some point. Sometimes he did it on purpose, and other times he didn’t even realize he had done something wrong. It sounded strange that he actually would go out of his way to mess up a relationship, but he has done it plenty of times before. It was something he couldn’t really explain to why he did it, but the reason was pretty much because the thought of actual love frightens him. That sounds strange as well, but if you had lived Elvis’ life for all of your years, then you might understand it a bit more.
-----Well, not his life really, more like if you could just get inside of his head and feel what he feels. Growing up, it wasn’t like he had a shitty childhood. In fact, there was nothing really wrong with it at all. The only thing that might have been wrong with it was that he hardly ever got to see his parents, but when your father is in Led Zeppelin and your mother is a foreign supermodel; would you really expect them to never be busy? Elvis never really had a problem with that, anyways. He had 3 siblings, the nanny that their parents made watch after them until they had reached an age where Jimmy and Leighton felt as if they were fine on their own while they were away (which was immaturely at the age of probably 10), way too many pets, and plenty of friends that he got to see in school and even more out of it, so it wasn’t like the guy ever felt lonely. Even at a young age though, Elvis has just had a difficult time expressing how he feels for anyone if it’s anything other than just plain like or hatred. He can’t even remember a time where he has ever actually told either of his parents that he loved them, and he truly did, but it was almost as if he just felt weird and uncomfortable saying it. Now, Elvis didn’t blame how he was emotionally crippled for all the other things that he’s had to deal with up until this point in his life. He had begun drinking, smoking, messing around with drugs and sex at a pretty young age, and that was really more blamed for how he was the son of rockstar so he’s known that kind of lifestyle since the day he was born, but like it’s been said before, Elvis hardly ever got to hang around his father growing-up, so unless that was just something that came with the genes, it couldn’t be the reason for his wild behavior.
-----He didn’t even think the drinking, drugs, or sex was the cause of all the issues he’s had to deal with, honestly. You could have stuck him in a Christian private school from the age of 5 to 18 and he would have still gotten into that same stuff. Elvis has just always had a bit of a headstrong and rebellious nature to him, it’s something he can’t help and will probably never be able to change. You tell him to do one thing; he’ll go off and do the complete opposite. If you tell him not to do something, then he just has to do it. His father used to joke around about how Ace was the good twin while Elvis was the evil one, and they would all just laugh over it, but it was most likely true. Nobody even believed them would Ace and Elvis said they were twins, let alone related. Aceline was this complete brainiac sweetheart that tried her best to never hurt anyone’s feelings, was a huge goofball, had a very caring nature to her, and was just an all-around good person. Then you get to Elvis who most likely had more street smarts than he did book smarts, had never had anyone call him a sweetheart and actually be 100% serious about it, couldn’t give two fucks what anyone thought of him, was a goofball but more of in a sarcastic and dry sense of humored way, not even all that caring to those who he should be, and was most likely going straight to hell whenever he died. The only things that they both really shared in common was their age, parents, birth date, both being nymphomaniacs, and friends with most of the same people. Okay, so that nympho one wasn’t a total sure thing on Ace’s part, but the chick had 3 kids so it was obvious what her and her husband were doing at night wasn’t always just sleeping. Nobody in his family was like him though, not even his own twin sister, so one thing was obvious; Elvis was the black sheep.
-----It felt like that’s how it was with anyone he just knew in general. All the guys that he was friends with were like him in different ways since he couldn’t really make himself hang out with anyone who slightly wasn’t, but he had never met anyone that was exactly like him in every which way. His sister had said that the reason he had allowed himself to fall in love with Svetlana and stay married to her for that long was because she was the girl version of him, and who knows, it was probably true. She was a lot more friendly and caring than he was though, more sensitive as well, but they were both stubborn assholes when they wanted to be and pretty much always had to have the last word, and that’s where they could easily bash heads with each other. There had always been something about her though that he just couldn’t stay away from, and he didn’t even know what that something was. It bothered him when people used to ask him why he loved her and he didn’t know the answer to it. Just a few days before he had confessed to her that he didn’t really want to be with her anymore, he searched every part of his mind for the answer. He couldn’t say that he had just made himself learn to love her because she had gotten pregnant with his first child, seeing as that when she did get pregnant was a few months after they had gotten married.
-----That obviously wasn’t the reason anyways because the daughter he had with Svetlana, Aspen, wasn’t his only child. His one year old son, Preston, was one he had with the girl he had been dating just hours before he married Svetlana, and that pregnancy was most definitely not planned since it happened maybe a week or two before Aspen had been born. He didn’t treat his children differently, but he most definitely did when it came to the mothers. Svetlana was pretty much his best friend and has been for as long as he could remember, and Olivia was just something he considered a high school fling and he couldn’t stand the chick. She made him believe she was normal, but as soon as he left her for Svetlana but then agreed to stay with her for a little bit when Svet had kicked him out of the house, she thought they were back together and that he was only her’s and no one else’s. She was a jealous and controlling bitch, to be frank. She would get furious if he talked to any other girl that wasn’t her, and pretty much made it sound like she planned on killing Svetlana one day, and Elvis couldn’t stand it. That was where a girl could easily mess up in a relationship with him, and that was trying to control him. Elvis only followed his own rules, so if he wanted to go have drinks with his boys instead of stay at home and watch a Lifetime movie with you, then the smart thing to do was not argue with him and let him go. Any kind of feeling that he was being held back or held down from the things he wanted to do automatically made him just want to get away even more. Who knows, sometimes he would want to stay home and just chill with his girl instead of going out and getting wasted, you just had to let the guy make his own decisions on his own terms.
-----Right now though, there was no one to control him, and he was loving every damn second of it. Svetlana had never been too much of a controlling wife in his opinion, so it was easy for him to stay with her all that time. It was really just once he admitted to cheating on her while away for basketball that all trust she had for him seemed to just disappear and she was constantly wondering what he was up to and why he did the things he did, and Elvis couldn’t blame her for it. Svetlana was no longer apart of his life, or at least not that part, anymore. The only girl that mattered tonight was Roxie, and by the sounds of it from the short AIM conversation, it was going to be made obvious soon. Nobody really wanted to get down and dirty though with a young child in the next room, so Elvis made sure that his son would have been gone by the time the gorgeous woman arrived. Olivia had more custody over Preston than Elvis did so he got to spend time with him every few days during the week and Aspen used to be with him 24/7 and live in the house as well but since the soon-to-be divorce, she’s like Preston and just staying with her mother, getting to see her daddy every few days. Once Preston’s aunt had come by to pick him up, Elvis said his goodbyes and closed the door, going ahead and just leaving it unlocked though for whenever Roxie did show up. Pretty much any of Elvis’ or Svetlana’s close friends knew that they rarely ever locked the front door to their house, anyways. Sounded idiotic due to anyone who could just break into the house, but it was in a safe area to begin with, they had a security system, two huge ass dogs, and if all of that didn’t stop them, then there was always Elvis who could get it finished. He had already told Roxie that he wasn’t sure how much alcohol he had left so he got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen, opening one of the top cabinets and pulling out a bottle of what he already knew was in there, Jose Cuervo. Like he had predicted, there was just a little bit of it left, Elvis going ahead and just tilting his head back as he tried to just finish off the rest of it right there, planning on just having whatever Roxie brought over instead.
